As writers, we more than most may find it easier to adjust to the solitary life as COVID 19 forces us into lockdown. But the stresses and strains of this new restricted life are already taking a toll on a lot of us as we worry about friends, family, and even ourselves. As a writing group, we typically meet each month to support and encourage each other, and we will endeavour to continue to do this, albeit virtually. Thankfully, the writing community throughout the world already has a strong online presence and has always offered support and encouragement to others. So, if you find yourself staring at four walls or being driven mad by children demanding your attention, there is always someone out there to lend a friendly ear or some practical writing tips. https://twitter.com/ Twitter is a great place to connect with others in the writing community. People share book links for their published works, providing an endless list to add to a 'To Be Read' pile. Many write regular blogs ranging from writing advice to daily ramblings to get you motivated, inspired, or just to brighten your day. You will also find writing prompts, micro fiction, poetry, and an abundance of funny hashtags and GIFs to keep you amused and ready to put words of your own onto the page. https://reedsy.com/ Reedsy provides an abundance of resources for writers. They recently arranged an online word sprint, bringing writers from across the globe together. It provided focused time for writing and the opportunity to link up with others and discuss writing woes and tips to overcome them. It's free to sign up for their website and you can opt to receive weekly writing prompts to your inbox. If the prompts don't get you scribbling, try the plot generator to help you sketch out your next story. Reedsy can also connect you with editors, book cover designers, and other professionals if you're preparing to publish your work. https://www.wattpad.com/ Wattpad has a massive online community of readers and writers. It allows free access to thousands of stories and poetry for its members to read and it allows writers to publish their work online. There are competitions run on a regular basis for writers to submit their stories across all genres. A great online space to connect with like-minded people and broaden both your reading and writing spectrums. https://www.goodreads.com/ Goodreads is another free online community where readers and writers come together. Many published authors have an online presence here and regularly connect with their readers. If you're looking for recommendations for your next book to read you'll find in-depth reviews and suggestions to last you a life-time. For writers, like Wattpad, it also provides an opportunity to publish your stories and poetry online for other members to read and comment on.

So, if you're feeling isolated or just need some advice for your project, please reach out. As writers, we often work in isolation but we are a strong and supportive community, more now than ever. Birds of a feather stick together! #StaySafe #StrongerTogether
